22RE 5spd 2nd Gen, 4.88 gears, excellent condition - Baltimore, MD
I bought this 1990 truck in 2006 when I lived in Arkansas...awesome wheeling there and I had tons of spare time. I bought it from the original owners who bought it off the Toyota lot 16 years ago...175k miles and garage kept every night - new timing chain, new HG, all freshened up. The paint was BEAUTIFUL, and its one of the few 90s I've seen without those horrible graphics. ICE cold AC, all manual everything, etc.
After purchasing it, I found some low mileage complete 4.88 axle assemblies from an auto 4R, and swapped them in (instead of 4.10s). Running on 31" tires this is a killer setup and could crawl up anything. At the same time I put a set of 2" rear coil spacers on and replaced all the brake pads.
I swapped in a smaller diameter steering wheel, gave it a complete tune up and intake tract cleanout, new O2 sensor, tstat, U and CV joints and boots, etc, basically any maintenance item I forsaw it needing in the future.
Then I moved to Baltimore, where wheeling is far away and I dont have much spare time I'm looking to upgrade to a 3.4L 3rd gen for highway cruising.
The only problems:
-One of the factory running boards has a bend in it (hit a board unloading it from a trailer on my move up here).
-small dimple in the front chrome bumper (neighbor nicked me backing up, can post pics)
-two scratches in the rear tailgate, and a missing "T" in the toyota emblem
-small worn patch in the drivers seat, rest of interior is great
-grease/bleach stain in hatch area (previous owner)
Odometer shows 189k but I never changed the speedo after I upgraded axles so its actually much lower than that. Besides that everything works and looks great:
Asking price is $5250 OBO, please email any questions to Justins311 at hotmail.com. Will also consider trades for 3.4L 3rd gens (need a highway cruiser)

Not sure I understand the question; the 22RE and the Air Conditioning work great together. Its not a powerhouse either way but the AC never really had a huge effect on it
I can't beleive I didn't list the year lol (idiot!) - 1990. I've only ever seen 2-3 other trucks equipped like mine. SUPER rare
The front end (assuming you're speaking about the diff?) is great. I replaced it with a low mileage unit out of a V6 model with 4.88 gears, and replaced the CVs at the same time. Haven't heard a peep out of it in the last year.

Is there any rust starting anywhere? In the picture straight on from behind it looks a little funny around the rear window so just wanted to clarify. Also, just out of curiousity, what kind of mileage do you see from it (I suppose this is off from the new gears and such) but just ballpark? Thanks!

The truck gets about 20 mpg highway, probably 17 mpg city. I've never really kept track to be honest, I have checked a couple of times after highway trips but haven't been religous about it. If anything I'm sure the gears improved gas mileage at speeds below 65.

Back on the 4runner topic: I fixed the hunting idle, it was (doh) a misadjusted IAC valve. I forgot when I was tuning it up I cranked up the idle to warm it up faster. Yes I'm an idiot LOL. Idles perfectly now
