How'd you pull off that tire size with no lift?

BFG and a sawzall hehe. Unbolted the plastic inner fender and made three slices in the sheet metal behind it, then applied brute force with an 8 lb sledge. Drilled a new bolt hole for the plastic inner fender and reattached. Gotta love the way soft plastic forms to contours. Then just below the chrome bumper I drew a chalk line on the lower valance to match the tire and sawzalled away. A little final shaping with a bodymans cheese grater and there you have it. The only scraping I get now is from hitting deep holes while turning at higher rates of speed. Still wanting a lift though, autotrans requires more modification than standard bummer.

32's on stock 15x7 alloys. I ran two sets of BFG AT's to the tune of 40K+ miles per set this way. Keep it aligned and you won't get the goofy wear at the outside edges of the front tires. (Pic is an oldie but a goodie)



I you get 15x8's you might as well get the 33's and be done with it. I couldn't wait for my 32's to wear out last time.

I opted for the 32X11.5 for my 15X7's. They should be on my truck by late next week hopefully. They would be mounted sooner, but when I rented a coil spring compressor the other day, they gave me a strut compressor instead and being a n00b I didn't know they goofed up. Nothing more fun than having your truck in the air, and struggling with strut compressors on your coil springs and wondering why they won't work very well.

Long story short, I can't get ahold of a coil spring compressor anywhere, so I am paying a shop to install the coils for me, which is on next the 29th, then I will have the tires mounted with some nice photos to share.

On the upside, my house smells like new tires now

I didnt know you needed a coil spring compressor to when you change the coils.

I don't know about the fronts but you don't need a compressor for the rears. At least with the Downey HDs you don't. Just make sure you unbolt the sway bar. That makes things sooooooo much easier. Then you can get the flex you need to slide the coils in. You will need another set of hands. One set to push down on the axle and another to put the coil in. It really isn't all that bad.

Congrats on the new tires. I'm looking forward to see how they look. I'm going to have to do some searching and read up on how everyone likes the MTs. I'm thinking soon it will be time to get rid of these Long Trails. They just don't have the look.

I just had my MT's installed 30 mins ago, so far they rock! At least for the drive across town

They rub a bit, but I have my torsion bars and coils ready to install so that will be fixed soon. No pics until I get those in, then my rig will be done and I can gloat about it. Boy oh boy are they ever horny looking though.

In response to the coils, I have the HD OME, and they seem pretty darn tall, I'm going to have to get a longer brake cable if I want to just be able to 'slide them in'. No way my axle is going to drop that far right now.

Productive day today, I installed my OME rear shocks, so now my shocks are done and out of the way. All I have left is the torsion bars and the coils and I am good to go!

Cool, how much lift are you planning on getting out of the coils? What gears do you have? I'm sure power isn't that bad because you have the 5-speed. Lucky dog.

Unfortunately for me, if I decide to go any bigger, I will have to regear. Unless I can figure out how to do it myself, it's going to cost an arm and leg. Acceleration sucks as it is with 31s.

Also, if you are going to be using coils that big, you will need to get a longer brake line. If you don't and decide you want to flex your rig, your brake line is going to rip and you'll be left with no brakes. Just keep that in mind.

So far it's lookin' good.

Yeah, I'll have to order a 2nd brake line when I order my new set of torsion bar bolts from Toyota, then I can just link the two of them together. No flexing for me for awhile after Thursday

Stock gearing, lift is expected at 1.5"

Your ride is going to suck with SAW torsion bars and no bumper/winch.

I bet you can get the coils in there yourself if you disconnect more things and have a helper. But it might just be easier to have somebody put them in too. Either way.
