302 swap; NEED INFO PLEEEASE!!
ok i have a 93 pickup with 22re 5 speed but also have a parts 94 ford f150 302 5 speed and was wondering EVERYTHING i would need to do to put in the 302. i inda want to stay away from the guess work so if anyone has done this already and know everything that needs to be done then thats what im looking for! lol from what ive found so far i should use a different tranny as the stock wont hold up to much abuse but the transfer will. i also have an older 4 speed manual toy tranny that i would kinda like to use (for the "4 speed"ness) but was wondering if its best to use the ford trans? transfer too? idk looking for help here! and thanks ahead of time guys!!! really appreciate it!!!

pending on where you live swap the motor and all the smog equipment and find a r150 v6 toyota tranny and use the 9inch rear end and check out advanced adapters site on the conversion kit they offer. honestly i would run a c6 tranny and buy chromoly gears for the tcase

Haha yea I kinda figured as much and I was wanting to keep it as low budget as possible ( I know I'm gunna have to spend money just trying to keep it minimal) would my m5r2 (I think that's the name of it) tranny out of the ford work? Bolt it to the Toyota transfer and everything will work? With advanced adapter stuff and I've heard some about northwest too? What all would I need to make everything work? And thanks for the help!!

I just finished doing a SAS and swapping in a 302 into my 86 4 runner. I'm currently running a G-52 tranny with a NWOR bellhousing, but eventually want to run the R151 trans. I likebthe setup so far, (although I haven't had a chance to put a lot of miles on it yet) but if you decided to go this route, you'd need the bellhousing, clutch kit, slave cylinder (relocates to the driverside) and you'd either need to build motor mounts, or buy those from NWOR also. I can't help you on pricing since I bought a 85 pickup that already had the the motor and all the parts already in it and I just swapped it all over to my 4 runner. Good luck on your project.

ok sweet thanks for that info, so i guess my only questions now are what transmissions should i be looking at and what are good ones to put behind the 302? and will whatever tranny i choose, will the yota transfer, rear end work? how much harder would it be to have an auto transmission and what are good ones for this project??
