A good spark plug socket has a rubber part that snags the plug so it sticks into the socket. If yours is missing the rubber part try a rubber hose that will fit over the top of a plug.

Thanx for the advice I have another question for you I was going through your thread once again...lol...and I got to the exhaust fab. And I knew that I had to fab and exhaust cross over pipe but what about 02 sensor bungs? Becuz making one of those looks rather intimidating...is there a chance I could just use that old piece of exhaust off the donor?

Yes, you can salvage one from an old Toyota exhaust. They should all be the same. You might need to replace the studs if its in bad shape.

Alright guys I have another stupid question for you...I have been reading a lot of threads (which you may have guessed considering anyone in their right mind that hasn't done a swap like this before should do...lol) and they all mention the 3.0 missing an engine hook but I don't exactly understand what they are talking about...what I have gathered is that they use those hooks for pulling the engine out but the 2 engines I have helped pull we just bolted a chain to the block with two bolts so I'm not sure really what they are talking about and it would be nice to know lol

Not the 3.0... it has 2, the 3.4 is missing one on the passenger side. Yeah you can use a bolt or bolts I guess, its just nice to have the hooks to keep the chains off the valve covers and other stuff. Also the factory hook spots balance the engine nicely.

You can transfer the pass side hook from the 3.0 to the 3.4 but you need to drill a new hole in it.

I left the 3.0 hook on mine in case I ever have to take it out again. You can see a stack of washers was needed on one bolt.

Alright guys Im getting waaaaaay ahead of myself here...but I cant help it now that i was able to get the 4runner out of the mud so i can work on it a bit when i have time, I have been super excited to start the swap even though I know I should keep reading a lot more before I do anything too major yet which leads me to my question...do you guys think I could just change the timing belt or do I need to do all the components that go along with it?

If you are going to be in there anyways, you should really change everything. You do not want to have to go back one day soon.

And hey...you are 16. You need to go have fun!!!!!!!!

Ok then I will plan on changing everything...and when I get the 4runner I will be having fun especially since my best friend is going to b at ait and so I won't be hanging out down town as much...and since I don't have a truck to screw around in the mud right now that won't work either lol

Nice little truck.............except the 3.0

I didnt know that 16 year olds liked Metallica. I thought all you guys were into Justin Beiber??

Anyone from Colorado that can fill him in on the smog laws there? Is he going to be able to put a drivers drop crossover in there and pass inspection? Is there even any inspection, etc?

What ADD plug are you talking about? You can have manual hubs and ADD at the same time, but its not like that from the factory.

Not sure I get that either?

You have wire color for the plug(s) that are missing?

Post up the year and model again as well.
