So for obd2, look at the digram and find the data link connector on the far right. You will see numbers for each wire. That is the pinout for the connector itself. My connector had numbers on it so it was easy. Just move the pins that you have around to match the diagram. Then the one wire to ecu, and two grounds, and I just used my cig. lighter power wire with a 7.5 fuse inline to the connector. If you have questions too, pm me and I can call you as well. Sometimes explaining it over the phone is easier than trying to write it out.

How long did it take you guys to do your swap? I wanted to do mine over memorial day weekend seeing how I didn't have work. Would I be too crunched for time?

If you are trying to do it in a specified amount of time I doubt you'll make it. Just take your time and double check your work. I did it in probably 12 or so hours all together over the course of 2 days.

agreed. now that I have done it, the next one will be easily in a day. For the wiring that is. I made it way more complex than it needed to be. in the couple weekends that I worked on it, it was being bothered every minute it seemed like. I couldn't just sit down and bust it out.

yep. My harness didn't have it wired in for some reason. so I went and stole one from a honda civic at a junkyard. You can get them off any vehicle 96 or newer. just have to re-pin to suite the vehicle. The obd2 is not the one that says diagnostic that is on the intake plenum.

Cool. Ill get to the junkyard in the next couple days and grab one. So you said two grounds, one power from the cig. lighter, and one to the ECU. Where in the ECU did it come from?

Yes, you can, and should, save all the pdf files you can get your hands on.
No, they don't have diagrams for anything that old, least not while I was on there. Your best bet for those is shop manuals on eBay or there may be someone here with a link to a site that's hosting manuals from '84.

I didn't mount mine. I just have it sitting there behind that lower panel. I have a mobile pc with a touchscreen mounted where the stereo and little cubby are. I have a usb obd2 scanner that is always plugged in. So there was no need to mount it anywhere.

Got Alot done today. I pulled the ole 3.0 and started swapping everything over. So far I did the motor mounts, oil pan pickup tube and baffle, relocated the dipstick. Now I think that's about all I have to swap over but correct me if i'm wrong. Tomorrow I'm welding my custom crossover and dropping it in then wiring it up. Hopefully everything goes off without a hitch

I switched that over as well. I got alot more done yesterday, the crossover is made and fits very well I must say. The engine is in!! I got the motor mounts and tranny bolts in. I started buttoning up the power steering and alt up. Hopefully a key turn by Monday seeing how I won't be working on it this weekend. I'll try to get some pics next time at the shop
