cduff,
not to start a pissing match with other wax brands, but here's my experience. i've been through alot of brands and methods re getting that "wet look" and zaino's by far is the most economical in the long run. here's my rationale/experience:
- hand polishing and waxing with conventional products takes more product and about 25% more time than using zainos. its hard to explain, but once you experience it, you'll agree with me. you use more conventional wax/polish than you ever will w/ zainos.
- hand polishing and waxing will never get you that wet shine like you will with a machine buffer/polisher. that is why many members here buy a random orbital buffer like the porter...err...corey cable. that will cost you around a $100...and isn't that about the cost to start w/ zaino products?
- zainos: this stuff lasts forever and you barely use any product on the car. a few ounces goes a LOOOOONG way. does it last? absolutely. you'd be amazed at how long the shine lasts. over 8 - 9 months from my experience. meguiars? a max of 3 months if its garaged. 3M? maybe 4 months garaged. griots? maybe 4-5 months.
so w/ zainos, you use less product and have longer intervals before re-application. and not to mention, "that shine"

Thanks Bob, I need to grab a bottle right before spring hits, when it's slightly warmer. Thank you for going to the trouble to explain - I am a believer almost - just need to grab some and check it out.

cduff,
great definitely get the zfx so you dont have to buy the Z1 (base coat product). zfx will allow you to put multiple coats on in a single day. also, you can use just about any clay bar. i found that the zaino clay bar was no different than mother's, 3M, etc. clay bar is also called "overspray bar" too.
by far, the z5 swirl remover is the best of all of the zaino products.

ah just dug up a pic from the past of that glorious zaino shine! this is on my friend's porsche boxster. we did the full clay, two coats of z5 and a coat of z2. of course we followed up w/ the z7 spray.
