I cleaned out my throttle body on my 22RE and now my idle is high. When warming up it is up near 2 grand and when normal temp it is at a little over a grand. Is this normal? Can anybody tell me what theirs idles at?

800ish. i read that it's supposed to be around 850. if you want, i can find the spec sheet for you.

22re is 800. I have my set around 800-1000. Your idle is probally a bit higher now because since you cleaned out that gunk in your throttle body the correct amount of air is flowing through. Just adjust your idle down a little bit, its the flathead screw on the top of the throttle body.

makes me think of when i put a non leaking carb gasket on my old 20R. the idle with the huge vacuum leak was around 1000RPM, when it was fixed, it was idling around 450RPM

seems the prvious owner just said "screw it" and set the idle with the leak. i soon found out why -- it took me only about 3 months for the new gasket to give up. so happy to not have a POS weber on my new motor...

Yeah my truck used to idle around 850 or so. I liked that a lot more. I'll adjust that idle screw and see how that goes. Thanx. I have never adjusted it before so i dont know why it would be up but there deff was a lot of junk in the throttle body

Between 1,400 and 1,600 for cold start and 525 to 625 when warm.

What's wrong with Weber? I heard they were great carbs for this application.

(I understand there's an issue with the adapter plates for the stock manifold, but that's not the carb's fault is it?)

well, the adapter was the main cause of my grief, but mine had a jury rigged manual choke(was a 32/36 DGEV converted to manual). i'm sure it wouldn't have been as bad if i had bought it and installed it in the first place, but i'm much happier with the gutted 22R carb i'm running now.

if i were to ever run a weber again, i'd make sure to get one of the offy manifolds for the 22R with a weber bolt pattern already on it

Yeah, I've been eyeballing those Offy manifolds. I've had experience in the past with their 360* dual plane manifolds (on a HOT 350 SBC) and I'm sold on their performance. I'm just not sure it's worth it to me to fork over $180 for one...

That's why i was thinking about fabbing my own..

Mine can get as high as 2000 when its cold, but normally is only 1000. WHen its warm it usually sits around 500-750
