VQ35DE 3.5l Nissan v6 engine in a 95 4runner

Has anyone considered this swap? I just started thinking about this today I've been reading this forum for awhile its been very informative. I have a 95 4runner automatic. I was planning to swap out the engine for something with a bit more go in it and certainly better gas mileage, the stock 3.0 gets like 12 - 13 mpg. I know the 3.4 gets around 18 to 20, but after taking a spin in a friends pathfinder I was really surprised at how much torque that engine had, he said it gets around 17 or 18 mpg. I'm also considering the total chaos gen 2 caddy kit, for the front suspension along with a few other things. The main issue for me is finding a decent junkyard vehicle with all the necessary wiring with transfer-case and transmission. I still want a automatic transmission. I'm stuck between the Toyota 3.4, vortec 4.3, and my idea of the 3.5 Nissan. I guess I need to be enlightened.... any help or information is much appreciated.

If I were going to put that much effort into an engine swap, I'd just do a 1UZFE. A lot of people have swapped 4.3's with little issues, but the Nissan swap would be a very large project. I'd stick to Toyota. They have their reputation for a reason. Welcome to YT.

Also, that AT in your 4Runner is robbing you of those desired MPG's. My 92, 3.0, 5 speed got 18 MPG all day long.

Alright much thanks. Ill look into the 1UZFE swap.... Ill more than likely end up doing the 3.4 swap. Although I still want to stick to an automatic.... this is going to be a daily driver and I'm not a very big fan of manuals when you end up sitting in traffic for hours..... just not my thing.
