I finished up my R151/R150 hybrid transmission last night. I didn't want to purchase the $350 adapter and $150.00 23 spline input needed to bolt gear drive dual cases behind my 96+ R150 so I took 3 transmissions I had in the garage and made the one I wanted.
This is my set-up now.
3.4 Motor -|- 96+ R150 Bell-housing and input -|- 89 R150 Trans Gears -|- R151 Tail-Housing -|- R151 Transfer Case -|- 23 spline Dual Adapter -|- 23 spine top-shift case.
I had to use the 96+ bell-housing and input because they are 1" longer than the 95 and older ones. I had to use a 95- R150 as the R151 tail-housing wouldn't bolt up to the 96+ trans because it a little different.
Here are a few pictures. I know everyone love pictures.
R150 Inputs - left = 96+ | right = 95 and older
The yellow circled areas show the difference between the R151, PRE 95 R150 and the 96+ R150. The newer R150 was changed around in the rear tail-housing a little. The internals are the same as the older R151 and R150.

Nice tranny exchange to get what you want out of what you already had.
I thought I almost had my truck done then found out i got the wrong rotors so i had to order them then i need on rear hard line and and new rear wheel cylinders. maybe I can bang it out tonight. we will see. Then i have to drive it to work Shockless to weld up my hoops on the front and mount my $20 dollar non leaking Rancho 9012's on the front. Thank you Craigslist. then probably running F250 rear shocks with a bracket to convert it from rear pin to eye style mount.

Mine isnt a Taco but this should give you reference.
I have 2" bodylift. It wouldn't go without, or clearancing the tunnel, raising it up, and then reinstalling the console.

Thanks for posting those pictures. I was afraid they'd be like that. Davez offroad also had a triple shifter. He's design keeps everything on the sides of the case. I think I may give davez a try.

I've been working on my dual cases the last few days. I went to install my upgraded Long output in the rear case but couldn't finish that as the snap ring is not reusable so I have to order one from Toyota to finish up the rear case.
I moved to the front reduction case but ended up breaking my snap ring pliers. I now have to find a better set that I can get locally as I'd like to have my cases done by this weekend so I can move on to installing my gears in the thirds.

I saw the prototype that DAve is making and its really nice as well. Dave is a really cool guy to boot!!
Not local for you but I bought the ones that Marlin sells. They are great. Really handy that Marlin is 2 miles from my house and I drive right by there twice a day to work and back . Bad thing is the drive home from work is expensive sometimes

I found the same set Marlin sells at Sears for $13.00. They work great. I also found an awesome set of lock ring pliers to remove the out put shaft lock ring so I can get the lock rang gear off and also install my cromo Bobby Long output.
Here's some pictures. The napa ones on the far left are P.O.S. crap. Plus they charged me $40.00. Sears had the same ones for $12.00.
I got my Aussie Locker in the other day. It's for the front axle.

Man these forums are slooooooow. Do I need to change the title to something more catchy to get some more attention. LOL!
I just ordered my Pitbull Rockers. I found them for a good deal with shipping. These tires are bad.
I ended up with 37x12.5x17's. I wanted to run some H1 double bead-locks but I just couldn't justify the extra cost for the tires and the 1k+ for the rims. I can't see me wheeling crazy enough to need bead-locks right now. If I do end up needing them I'll just weld on some DIY ones or get some later.

The guy I got them from said he's expecting to get 40K+ miles out them on his daily driver. I think he said he had them on his F250 or something like that.

The only thing that sucks is he doesn't list a 37 in a 15' rim and i don't want to buy new wheels and I want radials. They are listed on their website though so i am sure he can probably get them...
