[WA] Mt. Gardner exploration

Well, Kevin (KevyWevy) and I did some exploring in the Mt. Gardner area last night. I hadn't been there since last summer's mid-week run, and all I could remember from the last trip was a ton of pin strips, and standing on Mike's slider as he tried to negotiate a 100 pt. turn on the side of a 30 deg. hill climb.

Anyhoo, we explored several side spurs that we hadn't been on before, one of which we had to go in reverse and back out a couple hundred yards. One branch managed to hook on to my bug shield on the hood and snap the corner off. After a few dead ends, we found a pretty open trail that ran back a few miles into some great open country. There wasn't anything too technical, a few rocky spots, one which tested my sliders a tinge. We eventually got stopped by a partially washed out trail that had a pretty good snow drift built up on it. The hope is that once the snow melts there will be enough room to sneak by and continue on to the summit. This trail could easily handle a larger group, hint hint.....

It was great to get out, and now on to the pics..

What still runs? My 4runner? I had to dust off the transfercase shifter, but I'z still got mad skilz wit my ride. It was fun to get out into the great outdoors again, and Mt. Gardner would be a great place for midweek runs....

Yup, 22nd sounds good. There were a few more spurs we didn't have a chance to explore, but at least the main route isn't nearly as overgrown as what we went on last year.

Anyways, it'll be a fun trip next week. I caught a glimpse of an elk crossing the road on the way down, but no signs of the glowing white orbs known to inhabit the area....
