Yeah I'm excited. How bad would it be to drive with the panhard completley disconnected a few miles to the place i'm having it worked on...?

Hey Keith,
Whew! Ya'll have been busy. Doesn't look like the same rig I saw Monday. Any plans for your old wheels, or are those your old ones painted black?

And that guy in the driver's seat...he looks familiar somehow. He also looks like he's wishin' that was his rig...lol!

Looks like you already got your LC coils on?

Looks GOOD!

Now my rig is gonna be the wimpiest one...

OH well, it will have the best stereo besides the one in Cory's Burb.

A disconnected panrod is OK, you'll have more roll on corners and such though.

I wouldn't do a disconnected panhard, and if you did be very careful about side-loading the rear axle (like taking a corner). The main links are parallel to the vehicle frame rails, so they provide very little lateral stability for the rear axle. The Panhard's job is to keep the axle located left to right. Driving without it the axle will be free to move left to right until the bushings on the other arms get in enough of a bind to stop it.

I've never done something like that on a rear axle... but I've done it on a front axle at 70 mph.... I've never been so scared in my life. But I did tool around town trying to find a dealer to fix it at ~20 mph with no huge problems (the steering felt funny and there were lots of clunks).

What he said.

When I said "OK" I meant OK for driving for < 10 miles, slow speeds.

Kindof like when I put the BJ spacers on and then drove around with no front shocks.

Not that I'm advocating it, but I've driven with no shocks plenty of times...

Cory's all about playing Hoooptie!

Bad news all.... I gotta entertain a GM engineer on Friday. I'm an engineer in charge of a $30million/year program, and they want to make sure they're getting what they paid for.... so no way out of this one. At least not with my checking account.

I do plan on driving up on Saturday morning though, so maybe I can meet you guys in Mark Twain or something. I also have an engine to unload (as in manually, with backs and legs and stuff) in Monett, but I don't know what time that's happening, I'm hoping for Saturday eveningish.

More to come....

What time are you going to make it out Sat morning? If you left early enough, you could still meet up with us at my house in the morn.

You also realize the plan to camp Sat evening, and not come back to Monett, right?

If the engine is in the back of your Dodge, we may want to get that unloaded at Cory's before wheeling ... don't want it to get lifted or rained on (?)

Under the kitchen table. Shoot, I'll even help you add a leaf.

Oh, and I do have a tarp in case we need that...

Do you realize that a couple of you are wandering back to Monett with me Saturday night to help unload an engine?

Oh, and I don't have to tell you anything about the "if you left early enough" part.....

If it's raining buckets, there might be more than a couple of us going back to Monett

The old wheels... I'll probably clean them up and sell them for a few bucks to help offset the cost of the new ones. Not for sure yet though.

Besides the burb, I'm running a Pioneer Headunit feeding a 1700W Fosgate amp driving 2 6x9 3-way Alpines and 2 2-way 4" Alpines in the 4Runner..... I like my tunes loud

BUT, IIRC you are running a sub, which I cant really compete with in the Runner, it was just built for clarity and volume, so you may take the cake on that one!

Yeah. Basically some crappy 4" up front, OK but not great 6x9s, and the cheapest Kicker 12" sub - finally mounted in an airtight box - powered by a 400 W 4 chan Walmart amp fed by the cheapest Walmart radio. HA!

And yes, the amp STINKS. I know. Eventually I'll replace it with a 3-channel Kicker and replace all the other speaks with Kickers as well, then put in a proper radio. But lotsa other stuff first.

But ya know, it's the best because it plays my music.

So, any of you guys good at 2cycle engines?
I tried again to get my chainsaw started, it just won't do it.
I opened the carb and everything looked real clean there -
I'm getting a spark just fine -
After a few cranks & choke positions it did fire up but didn't stay running - did this several times.
I wish I had a compression gauge so I could check that....

I'm good with them. I've been running a chainsaw for over ten years now.

How long has that saw been sitting? The diaphram may be tired if it's unused for a while. And how old is the plug? Any carbon? Was there smoke? How did it die? Did you hit the throttle and then it died, or did it just die on it's own?

Saw's about 3-4 yrs old, it started doing this when it was brand new (which is why I let it sit for 2-3 years). I'd say it has < 10 hours on it total...

The plug was nice and black but no buildup or anything... I did use some 220 sandpaper on it but cleaning it didn't seem to help. I also tried closing the gap a bit, but that had no effect - I didn't try opening it up.

I'm pretty sure it's getting fuel - Whenever I pull the plug out after cranking several times, the plug is wet.

When it did try to start, there was some smoke, and I didn't even have time to hit the throttle... it just turned over 5-6 times and died.

Maybe I'll bring it up whenever you can go with us, and have you take a look at it.
