what do you put on your roof rack? Anyone strap down a surfboard? How did it work out?

my computer tower, speaker system, and boxes of various things go up there when i move from college to home, etc.

trail wise: my tent, camp chair, sleeping bag(inside a duffel), empty water jugs, etc. anything light weight that i can toss up there. soon to house a highlift and a bag with my essential recovery stuff like tow strap, drings, blocks of wood (so i dont have to go digging in the truck for it)

i also have been know to put lumber up there (both dimensional and plywood), steel and aluminimum.

If you are going to strap your board make sure it is upside down, and you want to have the tail inside the rack. The nose of the board should sit on the front of the roof rack use three tie down straps to secure every thing. this should work for you I have used this method several time
