Also the gauge is hard to read in direct sunlight, best to keep it in the shade some where. In the end this is just a short term good solution for auto fan setup until I get the arduino done. I have a fish tank project that I will be doing before I get to the auto. Planning on also showing the oil pressure.

Ok, hooked mine up and it worked good for a bit. If I set the "set temp" at anything over about 175F (mine reads fahrenheit) it does this crazy thing where the display shows "HHH" and does nothing. Reset does nothing. Earlier I was able to get it back to working by lowering the "set temp" below about 170f. Still trying to get a handle on whats going on......any thoughts would be appreciated!!!

My Fan controller
Ok, so I have played with my set temp and here's what I found: If i set it much above 180 the temp glide that occurs between when the fan kicks in and when it actually stops the temp climb, lets it get into the "HHH" by going over the maximum temp.
SOOOOOOO I am testing by slowly bumping the set temp down (currently about 175) until I dont get the "HHH" anymore.
Just some pics of where I installed mine. Since I didnt have the cruise set up the hole worked great!!! I trimmed the blank plate down and only had to shave about 1/32" off the bottom.
The Real work was having to Sawzall (fave tool) some of the plastic in the area behind it to get the depth needed.
I wired mine into a pair of relays (high & low) and activate them by switching the ground with the temp controller (less fatique on the internal contacts).
Got more pics but I havent figured out this Photobcket thing to be able to post more than 3!

****UPDATE****
Here's where I've gotten to so far.....
The setting for "HS" either doesnt work or I have missed something. I have checked, double and even triple checked to make sure that it is set as high as possible (194F). However, if the engine temp (with the fan running of course) climbs to 185F the display will switch to -57F and turn the fan OFF (NOT GOOD) then if it continues to climb the display goes to HHH (with the fan still off) and stays that way til you move enough air across the rad to cool it back down below 184F where the fan kicks back on.
OUTSANE: can you simulate this situation and tell me if yours will allow the fan to run all the way to the HS setting (I would guess 110c)?
For grins and giggles I even tried resetting everything, changing all the setting and resetting them, running the temp correction to +12 then to -12 all without success. beginning to wonder if I need to send it back for a replacement.
IF this cant be resolved I was thinking about wiring the low fan to come on with the key again and let this unit control the high side of the fan.

Sounds like there may be a problem with the controller itself or possibly the thermistor . It should not be going from a reading of 185 to -57 .
Have you contacted the mfg. and talked to their tech. support people?

The mfg. should have someone on staff who speaks at least passable english at their service desk. Check on line even if it was shipped from China there may be an agent located closer to home.

The update is that after contacting them and explaining in detail the situation they are sending me a replacement!!!! Woohoo!
I did, as a precaution, wire in a pair of diodes to allow me to override it if needed.
FYI: it is also nice to have as a backup BECAUSE if your low fan can't overcome the temp rise the fan controller will still shut off your fan @ max temp (194F is as high as mine will go). And if mine exceeds that I need MORE cooling not less.
