Tacoma shovel mount

Has anyone mounted a shovel on their tacoma that is clear of the usual bed space (ie NOT mounted in such a way that bed space is decreased, like on the sidewall)? If so, where and do you have pics? Everything i'm mounting im trying to keep clear of the bed space because I use all that space regularly. my hi-lift is mounted up on top of my toolbox where it doesnt interfere with space. this location is nice until I have to open the toolbox...

What about the side/front of your toolbox or if yours doesnt go all the way to the bed like mine-under it?

if i did it to the front of my toolbox, thatd cut into my cargo space. i was thinking maybe fabbing something up to mount it on the vertical metal above the rear windows before it curves 90 degrees to the roof. that would probably have some crappy aerodynamics though

Yea but how much cargo are you really sacrificing mounting it to the box-pretty minimal imho. You could put it behind/under your seat if you have a bench or just in the back of your cab. Heck you could even figure out a way to mount it to top of your bed rails if you have stake holes..

If you moutned it to the rear of the cab it would probably kill your aero.

This will take up very little bedspace if any. Buy a PVC tube and vertically secure it with strapping. I imagine depending your your shovel handle length, a 3ft section would be great. if you want to carry multiple impliments just use a bigger diameter pvc tube. This is how all the utiliity trucks were setup when I worked at excavating houses.

Is there room to mount it above your spare tire? Assuming this isn't a full size shovel. Or go hard core and mount it to the outside of your tailgate.

Take a look at Expeditions West truck. Not sure how he fabbed it or if it's bought, but he would be more than willing to tell you.
