oil additives

My truck smokes on startup when it's been sitting oil. Many people have seen my thread(s).

I just did a head job on it and got new valves and seals (not valve guides.) I was wondering what additives you guys recommend for making the current valve seals swell.

When I did the head job, on the first oil fill up I added some risoline oil attitive. I dont think it was the kind that makes ribber seals swell up.

Anyway, I think it's the actual valve guides that are bad and not the seals, but if I swell the seals will that help? Im using 20w50 oil and switching has really helped keep oil consumption down.

Just a heads up, running that thick of an oil could cause premature top end wear...

Stick to 15w-40 tops...

I heard "Engine restore" works pretty well to help seals seal better... but you need new valve guide seals.... You can only bandaide the problem so long.

They are already new seals. So it's definitely something else. And I'm only "band-aiding" it until winter is over and I can dig into the engine again.
