Are the fuel tanks sold by Downey the same ones made by NWMP? I am particularly interested in the under-bed auxiliary tank for the '85 4x4.

I heard that Downey rebrands NWMP tanks (out of Oregon, great tanks). NWOR also sells the NWMP tanks in their catalogs. the guys at NWMP are really friendly, give them a call. they might be able to work out a deal with you. I bought a used NWMP tank from daryld (thanks daryl!) and had it installed by dudebud (thanks D!). I needed the full install kit and they sent me the whole thing from Oregon.
This included all new hoses, fill neck, attachments etc. The tank fits great under the spare and adds about 11GAL capacity. highly recommended and good luck!I am sure their tanks will work great with your '85, but rather than paying downey you might deal direct with manufacturer

2x on calling NWMP directly. Great people, I bought mine used from ebay (been looking forever to find that one) and they've helped me bunches.
