2008 Highlander engine swap?

So I recently read that the 2008 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid will both feature a 270hp 3.5l V6. (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/07/c...nder-revealed/)

Who's going to be the first to drop one of these bad boys into an older 4-Runner or Taco? I'd kill for that much power in my truck, and an extra gear or two in the tranny. This sounds like it would be a sweet swap, aside from the cost of a brand new engine and jumping head-first into uncharted waters... Any volunteers?

highlander maybe a transaxle front end so the engine may sit on the transmission and that will be impossible to move over.

i dont know how a transaxle works but i know it aint gonna work if its fwd with option 4wd rear

You know, you can easily get that much power or even more out of your current engine with a superchanger and URD kit... easier than an "uncharted territory" engine swap too.

I'd rather have a truck engine, the 4.0 from the current taco/4r/FJC with ~239hp/278 ft-lbs. While we're dreaming, how about the 5.7l in the Tundra, 381hp/401ft-lbs...

Hmmm...drool.

Although, I think I'd rather have the new Cummins 6.7L: 350hp and 650ft-lbs...I need one!

How much gas would you have to save to pay off a $10,000 engine swap?
