Throttle Body Spacer - Removing It

'02 4Runner SR5 4X4160,000miles

Hello - wondering if anyone has some advice for me.

I've dealt with a Poweraid TB Spacer for the last 5 years or so - thought it was a good idea so I had it installed by a 4X4 shop. So, I don't have the old parts.

In a recent attempt to help sell my truck, I've taken the spacer out - Unfortunately I cannot adjust the throttle cable tight enough to make the pedal responsive (drops about 3 inches before I get engine response). Local mechanic shop believes I need a new and shorter throttle cable.

Although the photo shows room to adjust screws I already have tried all possibilities.

I've re-installed the spacer so I can at least let people test drive it effectively. Any advice for me or my new buyer?? Thanks!

TK

btw: TB Spacers are not worth a crap and they're loud and annoying!

Looking at the picture of the throttle cable bracket, it looks like you can bend it back enough to take the slack out of the throttle cable, that should work.

Junk yard or the dealer are the only places you might find another bracket.

If you look at were your throttle cable bracket is connected to the intake, theres an aluminum plate its bolted to. Thats an add on the came with the TB Spacer. Remove the plate and re-bolt the bracket directly to the intake manifold. If you remove it then bolt the throttle bracket to the stock location the throttle will be back in the adjustment range.

Same with the smaller plate in front of it. Both are small extension brackets that came in the TB spacer kit. The other negative of the spacer is it distorts the intake hose. Don't know if that makes a difference but appears to constrict air flow. Mine is now a paper weight. I have noticed no difference in power or MPG. But acceleration does seem quieter and smoother without it.

ThatGuy1295, while your solution is correct it most likely that OP solved this as the OP was from Feb. 2010.

Easy...looked at the date and time in the blue bar above his screen name in post #1. Also, this thread contained TK C's only 2 posts. :-)
