Just replaced the leaking steering gear box. Bled the system per the manual, but the steering wheel wont return/center from even a slight turn to the left. Right turns work great. Steering feels smooth with no binding....any suggestions woud be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Usually that means that the sector shaft preload is to tight and needs to be loosened and readjusted, or that your alignment is off.

Ok, is that the nut with the set screw inside it on top of the steering box? How would you recommend to adjust it. Ive heard...loosen the nut and turn the screw all the way in, but isnt that what the problem might be (too tight)? Thanks for your info. This was not a problem with the old box....only issue was it was leaking alot of fluid....

You would loosen it not tighten, I usually loosen just a bit and then take it for a quick spin to see if it is better. In your case, I can't give you an exact best way as I usually get them where it wont return to center from right or left.

I tried loosening the preload a bit at a time and ended up with the set screw as far out as it would go....issue was still there (wont return from left turns, but right turns are ok)....I even reset the pitman arm which was not aligned with the scribe marks....Im thinking Ive got a defective rebuilt steering gear due to the fact this was not an issue before I replaced it....any additional ideas are appreciated...thanks
