Speedo highly off on 2nd gen 4Runner
Hi guys, I hesitated between a couple sub-forums for posting this, but thought the Newbie bit was more accurate.
Recently bought a 2nd gen ('94) 4Runner 3VZ-E auto (Hilux Surf here in NZ) and just noticed the speedo was off, by quite a bit. When doing 120kph (75mph), my GPS tells me I'm only doing 95kph (59mph).
Using this calculator, that's a bigger difference than between the stock 30" and some 33"...
See picture below, it didn't come with stock wheels and some 30x9.5/15. (Spare wheel is still original 265/70/15)
Any idea what could cause such a difference between speedo reading and actual speed? Could a previous owner have recalibrated the speedo for some humongous tires?
Cheers!
