No Reverse!!!

No Reverse!!!
I towed my 97 Tacoma 2wd automatic behind a uhaul last week and when I took the truck off the tow dolley, I had no reverse. It acts as if it is neutral.
I had no choice but to drive it this week and periodically I can get it to work in reverse but not often. There is no consistency for when it does go into reverse.
Before the tow, I never had a problem and none of the other gears have any issues.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
NTostenr

my mechanic told me you should never tow an automatic in neutral over 25mph. The correct way is to either remove the drive shaft or put the drive wheels on something (eg fwd on a tow dolly or rwd/4wd on a trailer).
But, since it has already been done, I would try changing the fluid and filter. Otherwise its probably gonna get real expensive real quick. Check a service manual for instructions.
Hope this helps.
