need opinions on new 22re

I am looking for a good company for a rebuilt 22re. i was going to go with 22re performance but their 6 weeks backed up and i dont really want to wait that long. Lc is to expensive for me. i have found quite a few but would be comforted to hear someones success storys. I know theirs a lot of hacks out their.

Thanks,
Brad

Go with 22re preformance, you will not be dissapointed. I had to wait 8 weeks, but have had zero problems on my engine. I knew this going in so I wasn't especting it overnight. Plus it allowed me to source parts and get everything together, so when the engine did come, it was dropped in very quickly.

I talked to a lot of engine shops and 22re preformance (Putney's) were the most knowledgable. There pricey, but well worth the investment.

Stay away from places that put chinese crap parts on there long blocks.

Are you fully set on a rebuild? Have you looked into a good used low-mileage Celica or Hilux 22R-E engine? (when I say low mileage for the 22R-E I mean around 120k)

You may surprise yourself by finding a good running replacement engine that has never been opened up for $200-$400, at least this is the going rate over here on the west coast.

Then you can take your current tired engine and slowly rebuild it yourself in your garage without being rushed or experiencing a lot of down time without your truck.

My 2 cents,
BigMike

I agree with BigMike. That is what I did. but that is assuming you're mechanically inclined. Sometimes we just jump to the conclusion that every one here knows how to pull a motor rebuild it and put it back in and run it....

There's a guy here in Chico, ca that builds suped up 22re's. Very reputable. Putney's Custom Auto Machine I believe.
