I'm going to start working on my truck. I'm am in the process of buying a floor jack but was wondering what is the minimum height it should be able to crank up to and also how heavy a load should it be able to hold. I have a stock 94 pickup 4x4 with 31" tires. Looking to lift it an 1.5" with bj spacers in the future. Would a 19.5" max height jack be enough to lift the tires off the ground? How high should the jackstands be able to go? Thanks for the help. Sorry to ask a such a dumb quest. but I gotta start somewhere.

You want to lift at least 2000 lbs. Most floor jacks will handle that easily.

None of the factory recommended lift points are anywhere near 19.5" off the ground. I don't think you would have a problem. Go out and measure the different points with a tape measure to see how far they are off the ground. I usually jack up the rear by placing the jack under the axle and the front by jacking up the front crossmember where the A arm swivels.

Theres always gonna be times where you need to put a block on the jack to get it up where you need it. Spend the money on a good the first time around to, I bought a junk one the first time and lasted about 4 months. Then I bought on of these, and have never had any problems

It will go from 3 3/4 to 18 1/2 with about 3 pumps, untill theres weight on it.
