93 Toyota pick up BIG PROBLEM truck wont move
I have a 1993 toyota pick up. Recently I was driving up a hill and out of no where the truck lost all power and I began to roll backward. Once I rolled into a safe spot I the truck started back up but would not go anywhere. I have tried all the gears I had it towed home and the tow truck driver said all 4 wheels were locked up he eventually got them to unlock by pushing the truck back and fourth. But I still have the same problem the truck will start but goes nowhere. I was thinking the cluch or transmission might be the problem but I'm not sure.
ANY IDEAS???

I checked the fluid and there are no metal shaving or nothing like that and I don't know if it matters or not but there was no noies or grinding issues before the incident

so the truck wont move, or it will roll? i had this happen and the pinion in teh rear end stripped out., the truck woudl roll, but woudlnt hold its self or move under throttle. doubt this is your problem though if the 4wheel drive wont move it

when u are trying to get it to move does the truck bog down or idle not change? could be brake issue. for all 4 tires to lock up unless u where in 4wd thats the only thing i can think of that would cause all them to lock up.

ok transfer case is controlled by the transmission so if the truck will roll but does nothing at all movement wise in gear i would recomend to drop the transmission and transfer take it to a transmission shop and have them check it out thats my bet to your problem i saw this happen before i forgot what the problem ended up being.

Dang wabbit you beat my edit. lol. Also if it is an auto then we need to know if it's a v6 or not and if it has ADD or factory manual hubs. Because the only transfercase in that truck that is controlled by the transmission is in the v6 Pickup not the 4cyl. And that v6 truck has to have ADD and not manual hubs. ie A340H and not an A340F.

Does the engine bog down when you let off the clutch? If it does, try putting the transfer case in neutral and then try it. If it still bogs its likely not the tranfercase. Try putting the tranny in neutral, if it still bogs then I would say it is the clutch, if it doesnt then its probably the tranny. If it does normaly bog when you left off the clutch and it doesnt when you have the t/c in neutral then I would say it is somewhere in your driveline or axle/wheel area. may save you a little $$$ by narrowing it down.
