how do we avoid losing MPGs? in some other threads, i've read that people have felt a noticeable difference in MPGs as well as speed/power ... yarg, not cool.

you guys who offroad a lot, do you have one set of wheels & tires for offroading and another set for daily driving?

I offroad alot (sometimes not enough!) and I've yet to swap to my stock. Just takes too much time and trouble.

I've experienced some power loss Enough for me and I'm pretty picky! Also mpg has been pretty bad since the tires and the body armor.

Ya just have to pay the price for a fun truck to drive

I am leaning very towards the 16s. I think I will just add another inch of lift up front and add the downey coils with revtek spacers to the rear. That will give me a crazy but up look, but it's cool.

That's odd. What type of hitch do you have? Trying to get 16's on mine was impossible. I'm still perplexed by the whole disc size thing. I guess I'm just venting because I also wanted 16's. I figured since you had the LTD V8 you'd have the same size discs that I do.

Mickey Thompson and A.R.E. were both a no go on mine in the 16" fashion. I think they were 0 offset and 4.5 bs.

I don't think it makes sense to be doing this type of swapping. Also, your alignment will be off when you swith tires. SO, it might just wear out the the tires badly.

ALthough, I did flirt with this idea, but I don't want to just use the tires for offroading, I want to use it to scare the ricers on the freeway

do the Limiteds and Sports have the same size calipers? I know that our Sports have larger calipers than the sr5s ... I wonder how they compare to the Limiteds?

maybe I'll just go up one size ... and avoid some of the power loss? I will be doing some off-roading, but it it also my daily driver, so I need all the sweet power that I can get!

Now If I could just get my truck out of the body shop I could get excited about new shoes! At least Im getting a free alignment out of it (which I hadn't done since the lift) hehe..

2003 SR5 and Limited has the smaller brakes while the 2003 Sport has the larger brakes.

2004 Limited and Sport now have the same brakes while the 2004 SR5 still has the smaller ones.

You won't notice much power loss where you'll be a snail. My 4runner is still fast Fast enough that I just got a speeding ticket recently It's been awhile since I actually had to pull out my license and reg.... :pat: O well.
Even if you up grade to 285's you should be fine. The V8 has enough torque to make up for the larger tires...

I don't think you will if 16s on yours. You're gonna have to stay with 17s. 02Runner has tried many 16s and haven't found one that will work with the sport ed.

when I went to 4Wheel Parts around Christmas time, they thought some 16s would fit ... but they were all way $$$.

but won't I be able to put 275/70/17s on my current rims?

you won't be able to fit any 16's unfortunately. You can try but the brakes are abit too large... maybe someone will find something by some odd mfg making some 16's that'll fit

no ... i know, after i remembered the caliper/brake issue, i knew i couldn't do 16s ... but what i'm saying is, the 275/70/17s would fit, yes?

Is the Toyota Prado 120 mechanically the same as our 4-Runners? If so and you want to fit 16" wheels then you might want to take a looksy at the following web page. Here's the link (I hope it works):

The guy ground his calipers down a bit to fit 16" wheels. Would this affect the strength of the caliper?
