Hey all!

I was jacking up my Runner's front tire with the Toyota supplied jack and placed it where it said to place it but the jack runs out of height before lifting the tire to be replaced. It needs like another 1" to 1.25" of height. The rear is fine since it's under the axle. Am I missing something here or is Toyota missing some height on their jacks?

If your tires are stock size, it should (just barely) have enough hight. Keep turning the handle and see if you can get that extra inch.

Yep everything is stock and my the jack is maxed out. It's weird because in the manual, the jack placement is exactly where it's suppose to be. I think Toyota goofed here but odd that its not commonly mentioned. I mean, the stocker guys.

i've used the stock bottle jack to lift my tire off the ground before... and its a 35.... is there any room under the lower control arm? that way your not fighting the suspension flex?

i dont think your jack is maxed at that point. it should be as long as the top part.

That jack doesn't look maxed out to me. I say that you should have at least another inch of travel. Worse case scenario is put a brick or 2x4 under it to get it off the ground.

Before all of the hate mail comes this way, use this method only in an emergency and never work under a vehicle that isn't fully supported by quality jack stands that are rated more than the vehicle you are working on. Also, I would recommend getting a good jack to use for around the house. They don't cost much money and the are worth every penny.

On my 01 the jacking point is under the cross member just behind where you're jacking, maybe try there. Or just get a 6" piece of 2x6 and put it under the jack

Seriously, this thing was maxed. I couldn't crank it a mm more. Someone else mentioned that crossmember so that'll do the trick for emergencies. Thanks guys!

try taking it off and cranking it without weight. im 99.99999% positive you have at least anther inch on that thing.

Under the control arm or place scrap wood under the jack ie a foot of 2x6

Just experienced the same thing last week. It's not tall enough to do what it needs to under the cross member, exactly for the reason mentioned: suspension sag. My solution was close to the others suggested. One time I just cranked it to max then set it down on a jackstand, then moved the jack to the control arm- the other time I just used two jacks (and a jackstand as a backup).
