Two Questions!

Have you calculated MPGS yet? Wondering if it will do better than my V8 '03 Runner 4x4...and does any Tacoma have XReas?

Seems like a quick "get it done fix" rather than a solid solution to a problem. Thats my take on it. Also it seems as if it is going to be a challenge for aftermarket coilover designers to fit a shock in there.
Like Sean said, there are some stuff already available in this configuration.

Current availble items for both 03+ 4runner and 05+ tacoma:
Downey Coilovers
Daystar Spacers
Revtek Spacers
Nitrous Enterprises Spacers

Total Chaos Upper Control Arms (Uni Ball)
ATS Inland Truck Upper Control Arms (Uni Ball)

Pending items:
Donahoe Racing Coilovers
Sway A Way Coilovers
Fabtech Coilovers
King Shock Coilovers

The shock is built that way due to the steering rack being moved up front now (stronger and out of the way even though it's thinner). Either way it's all good since there's always a way for aftermarket vendors to make stuff.

Good luck

The new Tacoma has a syrupy suspension? Syrupy suspension does not sound good to me.

Do you know if VSC will be available on the trucks with the manual trans?

Dodge is re-introducing its power wagon, with FRONT and rear electric locking diffs, not to mention a horde of other offroad options. Ford is also doing the same thing to some F-series trucks, including an electric unlocking swaybar which allows a ton of extra ramp on the RTI. Seems to me toyota is straying from its tried and true offroad roots, and is getting to fancy for its own good, while other companies are settling back to their proven methods.

To enable greater understanding, would you please explain why the "reverse shackles" are bad for off-roading?

Many thanks!

I am drooling all over myself. At least it sounds like good news for 4th gen 4runner owners. The front suspension is identical.

It means the aftermarket vendors are going to have to haul ass and produce stuff. Hopefully, they make them for both 4th gen 4runners and 05 tacos.

Here are some links that should answer most questions in this thread:

2005 Tacoma Specifications

2005 Tacoma Features

2005 Tacoma Options

For those who don't care for the new Taco and it doesn't grow on you, no worries. Over the next three years every Toyota on sale today will either be a new generation or a completely new series within the brand. For Lexus, the next two years.

Here's what the Luxor in Las Vegas looks like on the side facing Mandalay Bay, site of the annual Toyota National Meeting.

I like it, though if I were able to bend the ear of the cosmetics designer for the exterior, I'd tell them to use less to none of those STRAIGHT lines.... The whole truck doesn't have a straight line on it till you look at the nose... Other than that, I LOVE IT!

When is toyota gonna break down and put a turbocharged, v8, 6+ litres, doing 500+ AWHP?? THAT'S what I want, so I can PEE on cyclones and typhoons....lol

Hey yeah, that would look cool on our trucks. I wish it had the holes like the old one but still looks cool.

Charles saw that with skid at the ballgame. Charles did you scan that skidplate to see how decent it was?

Nice thread BT!

Maybe the upcoming V-10 Tundra will do it for you, Bumpin'!

Edit: Thanks FT and everyone else. I get just a bit excited over new models and am walking on air after Las Vegas. I had a message from Toyota that they want the Taco back Friday for the beginning of the auto show circuit. I'll get in my last licks tomorrow, possibly on rainy paved roads.
