Anyone wheeling a 2005+ Regular cab 4cyl 4x4?
I'm considering a new Tacoma to replace my '94 std cab with V6. The new 4 cylinder 4x4 std cab seems like a good replacement - at least on paper, but I'm wondering if anybody can provide some real-life experiences with the small Taco? I went to test drive one today, but couldn't find one - apparently they are rare and Toyota is pushing the double-cab V6's hard. The V6 was nice and powerful and the double-cab is comfy, but it just feels too big for me (and not exactly cheap either).
I know the 4-cylinder versions have the 8.4" rear diff which limits choices for lockers to the lunchbox type or an ARB (or LSD), but are there any other drawbacks when it comes to mods or availability of aftermarket goodies?
