4th & 5th gen. Taco size difference?
The latest generation Tacomas seem larger than previous generations, anybody know what the actual wheelbase difference is.
Also, anyone have opinions on handling differences between the two. I'd probably go with two wheel drive, and it'd be used as a daily driver and to haul motorcycles to the track. I'd get a manual transmission, and I'd love a nice potent engine. I haven't decided between standard cab and xtra cab yet, though after driving the new xtra cab it seems big to me.
I know I'm not getting a sports car, but that's what I'm leaving behind, so I'd like to get the best handling truck I can find.
Thanks for any input.

the older tacomas are narrrower (maybe 6") than the new ones. I have 3 kids so the wider cab for me works out better. I did find that wheeling my '05 it did not fit on some of the trails that I like to go on so I ended up with an '81 for trail duty.
The 4.0 has got a ton of power. Downside is I am averaging 14-15 around town (running 285's). I don't have the 6 speed, when I test drove it it seemed like I was shifting all the time...The auto is not too bad.
I like my '05 better than my old '97 Tacoma but like any vehicle it has it's pro's and con's.
The 2.7l that the 4 bangers come with is the same as the previous Tacomas, a proven engine with decent power. I am looking for one to put in my '81...
