04 V8 Limited 4 Lo flashing
Hello all my 2004 4runner has the dreaded po1782 (internal transfer case jam) and will not go out of the “4Lo” mode. It is actually in 4hi but the actuator is jammed in between. The issue I have is this truck has never been in standing water and I’ve used 4lo every few months. when I popped the cover off the actuator box it looked very good inside, no corrosion. So this leads me to think there is a wiring issue or control issue. I’m not super familiar with these auto Tcase/center diff jobs, but I’ve been told there is two forks inside (center diff l/ul, and 4hi/lo). I think I have only viewed the center diff rod and motor. If so how do I completely remove the unitl to get to it. This was after being in a heated shop for 3 months with the motor out of it for exhaust manifolds. I thought maybe a pinched wire or bad ground but have traced a couple and not had any luck. Other than the 4 lo light I don’t have any other lights other than a tpms fault (befote this issue) I’m fairly mechanically inclined and this had been a conundrum.
