wiring to ignition
well my trucks radio is somehow connected directly to the battery so it wont turn off when i turn off the key. im gonna get a new cd player for it soon.
but my question is if anyone knows how i should go about running power for it to the ignition system so it shuts off with the car.
also i have a cb radio that has been laying around for a while that i wanna put in. its one of the cobra all in one units with the controlls all in the hand set, but the way that it was hooked up in my previous car was taped into one of the fuses. what spare fuse spots could i use to do this same thing?

i wired my radio wrong origionally.
get a light tester or DVOM and test your power wires.
do you lose settings when the key is off more than 10 seconds?
you may have your constant power and igntion power wires mixed up on your deck. try switching them.
your concstant should the the yellow wire out of the deck and the ignition should be red coming out of the deck.

You could wire the CB into the wires for Fuse#8 (cigarrette lighter). It's ignition controlled and fused.

Regardless, it's a good idea to get a decent test light to verify your connections work as designed.

You could. Make sure a 15A fuse resides in the block. I'd use seperate 7.5A fuses for the radio and CB, though, just in case. The smaller fuses will blow before the big ones, of course, so each unit is isolated.
If you're 'warming up' your lighter while transmitting your new Motley Crue tape to your buddy with your Linnear CB, you may have issues.
