mud hippy you bring up a very good point, high end of gear, oil leaking out the rod bearing cap = low or no oil pressure to the top end of motor. Might even show low oil pressure on the gauge which noone had asked in the beginning of this thread.
I am not too familiar with the 3.0 but how do you get the crank out when the motor and trans is still in the truck. It boggles me how you would undo the rear main seal and crank fro the trans input shaft with either the engine or the trans still in there.

No no no... that's not what I meant. I meant you can remove the main/crankshaft bearings(both pieces) with the crankshaft still installed in the engine by removing the bearing caps with the lower bearing halves still in them. Then just push/slide the upper halves out from behing the crank/main journals. I got them started on their way out from behind the journals by using the lower half of the used/old bearings to give them a enough of a shove 'till I could grab hold of them with some needlenose pliers and wiggle them the rest of the way out. To get the new ones in, I slathered the upper halves with some Permatex "Ultra Slick" engine assembly lube, then pushed them most of the way in by hand, and again used a spare/used bearing half to gently guide them the rest of the way home. Then I put the lower halves in the caps, lubed those up, bolted the caps on, and viola! Piece o' cake!
On the oil pressure thing. He says it had an oil leak and he ran it without any oil 'till it stopped. So that would = 0 psi oil pressure right?(No oil = No oil pressure) Or that would have been be a very relevant question to ask.
