v6 Brake Upgrade Questions
Hi everyone, I am curious if anyone knows the difference in brake booster and master cylinders for 2nd gen 4runners and 3rd gen pickups. I ask this because I am planning a v6 brake upgrade (calipers, rotors, master cylinder, and booster) and was researching toyota part numbers when I discovered that there are different part numbers for an 89-92 master cylinder and 93-95 master cylinder. The brake boosters are also different.
Everyone says just get the v6 brake parts and you are good to go. However, I want to know the difference.

It is my experience that the '92 and up 4Runners have thicker rotors and larger piston calipers than earlier models do.
When I did the upgrade to my ''87 Runner, I changed out from a '92 V-6 runner. I only changed the rotors and calipers ( actually the front hubs complete), and did not change my master cylinder and booster at all.
It was necessary to grind the brake shield tin a little to get the calipers to clear.
The '87 master cyl may be smaller diameter, IDK, but I have been happy with the more sensitive feel/ brake response from the larger piston area calipers while keeping the supposedly smaller piston diameter master cyl. I didn't notice any substantially greater necessary pedal effort.
There are several different aspects of brake op pressures to consider when you change caliper piston area versus master cylinder piston area, and I'm sure I don't know all there is to know about these brake upgrades.
All I know for sure is that I'm happy with my setup.

I did not upgrade my booster, but I have v6 calipers from I believe an 89 v6. I have a 1in master cylinder from 80 series land cruiser. Master is not absolutely needed, but larger cylinder moves more fliud per unit of pedal travel, so I chose to do it.

Good call. I've read that switching the whole combo yields the best results. I just want to know the difference in the parts.
Here's a useful link

They say an 80 series master cylinder is the best choice, like you have.

Update: did some more reading and I plan to use an fj80 master cylinder. However, I don't know what v6 4runner brake booster to use.
