Loose CV axles what to do. 1987 4x4 pickup

I dont have much cash at the moment and I would like to avoid 3rd party cv axles. This is assuming my truck even has toyota axles on it. I picked it up 2 months ago. my axles are loose you can move them with your hand. I'm pretty sure this truck never saw the road until i got it. The shocks, tie rods, idler arm, pitman arm are all loose. any advice on any of these items would be wonderful! And I'm happy to be on the forum!

If there is a better place to post please let me know thank you.

In what plane, or planes can you move them??

Do they make noise? Are their rubber boots intact?

Do u have automatic hubs? Take the hub cover off and make sure the 12 mm bolt is in the actual axle I removed mine to find it was disconnected. U can spend money on good oem parts and they will last longer but if you wheel it just go cheap cuz there gonna keep breaking I'm referring to yr idler arm and cvs. I just did idler steering stabilizer tie rods wheel bearings need to be done still but I'm doing a sas so I will save them for that if yr steering is real bad find a mom and pop alignment shop see what they say that's what I did and they just gave me a list of everything I should replace before I got an alignment to make it solid again

If your steering is locked all the way and it grinds its steering stop. Cheap little part. Plane- do they move up and down, side to side, rotate so on...

Nope manual. rebuilt and greased them when i first got the truck. ill check to see if the axle bolt is loose for sure.

What cheap VC do you go for? just whatever oreillys has? as far as idler arm and pitmen etc are the moog upgrades worth it?

Stay away from most parts stores. Order stuff off of rockauto, partsgeek, and so on. You can get good parts for half the price of auto parts stores.

Meh I almost got he moog ones but I wanted to save cash I just went on eBay got a set of idler arm pitman arm and tierods and got new sleeves and wheel bearings for like 150 bucks all together was there at my house 3 days later. I wheel my truck tho haven't been lately but I did after all that was done and I have bj spacers and Zuk mod so I knew they weren't like perfect oem stuff but they seemed solid enough

I bet they won't match rockauto. You'll get one cv for the price of both on rockauto and you'll get better parts at rockauto, but knock yourself out....

Here's how I was taught to check the cv. Go to a empty parking lot. Crank yr wheel all the way to one side and start accelerating listen for noises should get worse with speed. And the stop and crank the other way and repeat if u hear noises coming from the wheel with rotation as speed gets faster chances are it's ur cv. To check the wheel bearing jack up front end and try to wiggle the wheel up and down shouldn't have any play

ill do the cv test tomorrow but with all the play and being able to rotate them im pretty sure they are shot.

when i jack up one wheel and check for play i can move it up down and side to side.
