Yes. I just blocked the vacuum line and stuck the resistor in the plug and threw a litttle piece of duct tape on it to hold it there. WAnted to make ure it was reversible.

I decided to try it out today. Blocked off the line going to the EGR with a screw, didnt touch anything. Want to see if this is worth it.

I took the Cat. converter off my truck, big freakin whoop man, look at the united states military, every vehicle they have DOESNT have to pass any smog inspection, you know how much pollution a tank puts out? The resistor goes on the temp. sesnsor that goes into the egr valve. It is sticking straight out of the side of it. Should be a grey plug attached. Just unplug it and stick the resistor in the connections. female end obviously.

I must be friggin blind here, can anybody post a picture of this egr temp sender? I went to look for it and I can't see a damn thing comming out of the EGR.

I'm pretty sure it was use the aluminum can as the material to block of the EGR port on the intake.

can you use rtv sealant as a gasket or will it get too hot for that

No, yours looks like mine. In that it doesn't have one. So your good to go. You did put the CSI plug back on right? Because that won't do you no good, unless you think there's a problem with it.

Yeah, that should do. I used a little peice of scrap aluminum flashing I had for mine.

You mean with a block-off plate? Sure, use the high temp sensor safe copper RTV and you'll be fine. I guess you could fill the tube with it like chimmike says and call it good. Just make sure it's FULLY cured before you drive it.

Yep, I just haven't done it so I can't tell ya exactly how. Try searching.

I did plug the CSI back in, the plug came out VERY easy though, thats not good. Also looked very dirty.

Should I plug the opening on the EGR with anything? Or just leave it open?

This has got to be the easiest mod I have ever done! ( that gave me results)

so there is no possible problems with just disconecting the hoses on the egr? or should i just do the full blockoff on it? i really just wanted a cheap fix because it started sticking.

If your EGR valve is sticking, then you need to block it off. Removing the hose only prevents the EGR from coming on. If your EGR hangs up (like mine does), you will essentially be creating a vacuum leak. My engine vacuum went from 17 Hg to 21 HG when i blocked it off and my idle became much smoother as well.

For the record, if your EGR is working properly, then there should NOT be any diference in power, idle, or gas mileage. Blocking it off is only a crutch, but it will work. Fixing the problem is a better cure! Personally, I put less than a thoudsand miles a year on my truck so the pollution I'm spewing out is negligible. But, for those who use theirs as a daily driver.............

well we got it to close, or at least enough to stop causing serious problems but thinking about it i do have some running problems, inconsistent idle and low power maby it just didnt close all the way
