home made rock sliders, what's the angle?
Well I'm finally getting around to building some sliders. I'm going to use 1" hexagon shaped solid bar stock for the runner under the rocker panels and 6 pieces of 1" (thick walled) DOM tube for the pieces that attach to the frame, and yes I'm putting plates and gussets at the frame connection points.
Ok what I can't figure out is what angle the little upright piece (the one that attaches to the long part directly under the rockers and sort of goes up and out) is supposed to be at to allow me to open the doors and still offer some protection. I'm guessing that I'll have to figure it out on my own since I'm "custom" building these but wanted to ask if there was some hard and fast rule about it. Oh and what distance should I leave between that up/out part and the bottom of the door when I open it? Is 1" enough, too much, not quite enough??
I'm sorry if this is an odd post and worded wierd but I'm sleepy.
Thank you.

Honestly, The angle really depends on if you want them more of a step, or angled up more to shield the body. If you have them angled up more then it would make sense to weld the legs lower so the door will still open.
