yeah question... how and where are you mounting your air filter? Also... It does not seem to me, to be a good idea to run that source tube out the bottom like you did. Why not just cut a hole in the inner fender and run it out behind the fender like that? It moves the hose away from the tire and any sticks and rocks that could fly up and hit it. But thats my opinion and how i would do it. Your truck, your way.

Ricky, on the trail was almost a 40 degree difference of intake temps between Logan and myself. I am gonna go heat shield style. See if it helps bridge the gap a little more.

overall what was running temp?
I know LOGAN aka Big Blue Pile (hehe) was having fan probs...so that's probably not the time to tell, but what were operating temps like before the fan acted up?

Well ambient temp that day was supposedly around 60 or so, but we were in the sun.
Logan, with his fan working properly, was I believe at 72 degrees while I was at 112.
Before this little test, if it was lets say 40 degrees outside. On the freeway, Logan was at 40, I was at 45. Idling at stop lights around town however, my temp would rise the longer I sat there, Logans did not. But 5 degrees was not enough for me to try and make a difference. 40 degrees, however, has me thinking otherwise.
I just figured I am not doing anything crazy enough to worry about taking in water into my cone filter, let alone go crazy and snorkel my ride. But at least a heat shield is worth an attempt.

Yep.
I made the partition last night. I still need to get some weatherstripping to seal it off as best as I can from the rest of the engine compartment.
Kept an eye on the temp this morning. On the freeway, I was about 2.5 degrees over ambient air. (42 outside, temp guage read 44.5 at the intake.) At idle the temp would still start to rise, but at a much slower rate. I would normally get up to 70 degrees just sitting at a long light, today it didn't get out of the 50's. So its helping, but I could definitely make it better.
It has been interesting to watch the numbers difference between mine and the pineapple snorkel!
It would help if he would just tell me his numbers on the trail instead of RUBBING IT IN!!!!!!
