CRC Copper Block Weld

So far, so good!

When my HG originally leaked, I lost about 1/2 qt of coolant in 3 min. while it was parked in my driveway.
30 miles after the treatment, and not a drop of leakage. I followed the instructions very closely. After draining the coolant, I flushed it out three times with water to be sure there was no trace of antifreeze.

We'll see how it holds up with time. At least this will give me some transportation again while I sort out a new short or long block replacement. But I don't plan to do anything on it until there comes another problem.

Just a check in:

My truck is running like it's new. Stays cool, pulls hard (as hard as a 3.0 will) and doesn't smell funny AT ALL. So for what it saves you, this liquid HG repair is lookin pretty sweet, saving me over $1500!

I'll keep you all posted though. . .

I ran that stuff in one of my cars, back when I didn't know squat.

<insert lots of trouble and problems and cursing>

End of story: I paid to have the car taken to the crusher.

500 miles and no problems.

My advice to anyone thinking of using it,...if the climate allows (> 40 degrees F) after draining the system with the repair solution, flush it out with water and then refill with water only and run it with that for several days/weeks. From stuff I have read, folks run into problems when the antifreeze mixes with the liquid block weld, they crystalize. In warmer temps, you won't have any trouble running straight water. Most of the world uses only water. It will boil off a bit over time, but just keep an eye on it. replace with antifreeze after a few hundred miles when you know the repair is good.

Hodgepodge's idea sounds like a good one.

I did the quick-fix a month and a half ago, haven't had ANY problems. My dad and I just drove the truck up to the Downieville/Sierra City area. Up the incline there was NO indication/problem. no overheating, funny exhuast noises or smells. Runs solid.

Thanks. I know it isn't the popular remedy, but I stand by it. And it might not work for all situations.
