I think with me saying "chrome dont get ya home"
Is almost the same as someone asking "how do I get more power from my 22re" And someone coming back saying, "there's no replacement for displacement"...

That's all I got..

I always thought chromed out was "urban" and beaten up-rusted out was "redneck" but I could be wrong too
I'm still waitin' for someone to tell me/link me what this Trex billet stuff is all about. I'd like to know... tried a search and got dinosaurs and stuff, cool but not useful...

they picture a billet insert in the main upper grill, but it looks like the only thing they sell is an insert for the lower grill in the valance...

anyone else notice that?

As I understand, the "upper" grille inserts were discontinued. I happened upon some old stock. Not going for the valance inserts, though.

So if I spray paint my chrome black and drive a 2wheel drive it'll "get me home".

hmm... so a truck with a chrome grille and some small rust patches is considered "urban redneck"???

im not sure that the rust issue is the only thing that classifies you as a redneck... i mean, us non rusting areas of the globe have plenty of em...

In most places, chrome is considered anything but white in terms of widely held stereotypes. So just say you don't like it because you don't like it, don't hide behind stereotypes for stating your opinion.

A chrome grille insert is hardly chromed out when many Toyota's have chrome nearly everywhere, mind it's tasteful. I seem to remember one picture thread of god awful pics, one had a Toyota chromed to high hell, I don't remember you being to adamantly opposed to that, so obviously your feathers have been ruffled, so just stay out of the thread like you said you were going to do.

Thats cause the grill he has is for a pickup. The 4Runner grill does not have the vertical bars where the ones for the pickup do...I didn't like the vertical bars so I put a 4Runner grill on my truck, looks alot better...maybe thats why everyone says I have a 4Runner...

If you drive a vehicle with equal amounts of rust and chrome... you might be a redneck.
If you chromed your entire vehicle because "you like shiney things" .... you might be a redneck.

BTW thanks for the link scuba now I see what it is...

personally I prefer the Satoshi mesh look myself...

True... but it's the second vendor that I specifically talked to on the phone, rather than just order online. I wish they had a tighter rein on what they have in stock. I saw that the linky you gave me also has it listed on eBay. I'm guessing they know what they have/don't have. Thanks again!
