What do you mean gone through? Do you mean rebuilt? If everything was rebuilt, (engine, tranny, trans, diffs) id say great deal.

I bought my 90 4runner with 240,000 miles for 3500 and it was good, till it caught fire, and then the diff went out, wheeling bearing, radiator, battery, etc...

Make sure you inspect it first!

I paid $2200 for my 86 with just over 300000kms and it was in need of some tlc. Timing cover leaked oil, getting rusty and paint wearing off, E-brake didn't work, stuff like that. Money was tight for me or else I would have gotten something in better shape, but for $3000 if its had the engine rebuilt and it's looking clean then I'd go for it.

I paid $1400 for mine, was barely able to drive her home
Spent $600 on some quick TLC, and was able to drive her for another year while I built the new engine

I payed 2500$ then dumped another 700$ over the next year then it got flipped on its side and it is now waiting for me to do the final little body work then I will start driving it again.

I had to replace the clutch 150$
starter 175$
valve cover gaskets 35$
plugs and wires cap& rotor 65$
rebuild the front calipers 40$
replace the rear cylinders 25$
replace the master cylinder 100$
added more aux lights 60$ to 100$
after market coil helper springs 25$ <made the ride worse
and other things here and there

check for previous body work and rust. That is a big concern on these. Check the frame for rot also. Find out how many miles are on the chassis, tranny, ect.

Check KBB for value... that might give you a little to bargain with. If he has 3400 alone in the engine and all he wants is 3000 then he isn't afraid to loose money or you are believing his lie.

It really just depends on your feelings on the matter. I think if anything, i would love to get a truck that is in great condition and build up from there.

well i'm pretty sure its not lie because this truck use to be my friends brother and he is the one who ran it with no oil and blew the engine, and this guy who bought it from them is related to them and he put the 22re and had some one rebuild it. it has power steering. but he said he is pretty firm on it but IDK??

if everything's been gone through, and you trust the guy, it sounds like a decent deal. who knows though. it'd be easier to say yay or nay if there were some pics.

as for me-
1988 Toyota 4Runner- $1600
4" lift, 16" rims and 31" tires- $1500
Smiles on my face- priceless.

As dumb as this may sound..... sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling. If it's what you want then get it.

I bought mine for 2500$ with 172,000 miles on it after one turn around the block. Heck that thing was low on oil, out of water and wouldn't idle worth a damn but I wanted it.

Oh and with regards to those "priceless" threads.

Initial buy in- 2500$
gears- 450$
locker- 270$
tires- 465$
bumpers- 700$
Misc crap to make it idle again- 500$

Finding out the idle problem was caused by a blown 3.15$ intake gasket..... Priceless.
