Excessive fuel use...

I have a 95 yota 4x4, 3.0 v6, fresh head gaskets and all that goes with, 31 inch tires and a 3 or 4 inch lift, was lifted when i got it. Seems like everytime I start it it uses enough fuel to notice on the gage. No brakes dragging, no leaks, no fuel in oil, doesnt smeel rich, I adjusted the air screw to set the idle and thats it. Sometimes it seems like the engine is dragging and the higher the rpms the better it runs, it smooths out though. Just sometimes its kinda jerky, no engine lights. It did come on once or twice but went out. Any ideas or is this typical of these v6's with almost 190,000.

If the check engine light has come on and then gone off, i would say that there is a problem. I would check for any stored codes and go from there.

Never really kept track to see how many miles per gallon. But the gage moves everytime I start it. And has to be getting terrible gas mileage i am guessing. I am gonna check the codes right now..

Ok I checked and it had a code 14 stored, ignition signal, igniter and ignition coil circuit, igniter and ignition col. Says no "igf" signal to theecu 6-8 times in sucession.... Does this mean I need a new coil? Has anyone ever had this problem and fixed it? Thanks again and in advance.

ok so I went to the pull a part place and got me a coil and ignitor for 14.56. Off of a 3.0 v6 4 runner. Took my coil off and noticed they are diffrent coils and ignitor, plug wire hole is bigger than mine, and the big plug is diffrent. So to the good news, I happen to look down in the coil hole and it was dirty. Cleaned it out lightly sanded it, and put it back together, boom check engine light is gone. I did clean all my grounds too. Runs fine now, will update on gas mileage and if the problem comes back..
