Console In Yipee !!
Found a console from an Explorer this weekend. The wife recovered the armrest with some cloth from the seat doner back seats (Cresida 6 way power). Just did fit. Now I have some real cup holders and much needed storage. All I need now is a doner SR5 so I can have cruise, PW,PD,& Power mirrors. Did the vent window doors ever come with power mirrors?
The interior cost.
Cresida seats less than 50.00
Tercel steering wheel 12.00
Explorer console and armrest less than 20.00
Hope y'all like it I'm right tickled with it.

I have a DXL and while the mirrors arent powered - the DLX (not SR5) harness has the connector for the power mirror.
Also - the vents came as late as the 1989 model year but I think mine was an anomoly..

Thanks DC figures they would. Not having much luck finding any of these trucks in the local upullits around here. Were the vent windows an option? I bought a 91 SR5 4 runner new and it had the one piece windows. Thought maybe they may have been standard on this 91 truck.

Most 2nd gen 4runners had a single piece window with a sail mount mirror
Most 89-95 trucks had a single piece glass with either Sail mount or skin mount manual mirrors
They used vent glass all the way until 95. Electric skin mount mirrors could be found on the trucks with vent glass, and were usually only in the SR5 trucks.
SR5 4runners had electric Sail mount mirrors.
Electric skin mount mirrors are RARE and usually chrome (on the trucks)

It would be easier to buy an after market cruise, the built in Toyota cruise is in the steering wheel, under the dash, and under the hood. It would be a nightmare to swap, when you can buy a decent cruise unit that is electric, (non vacuum) and comes with a column lever for $200.
How comfortable are the seat? Lumbar support?

Hey guys thanks for the comments.
Yeah Trythis the seats are comfy, both power and both have lumbar support. Passenger seat didnt so I got another setup from the upullit and fit it in. Screwed up though thats why the little hole on the right side of the pass seat. The aftermarket cc would be a nice setup but cheap bastard that I am I'd rather retrofit, plus I just like doin that kinda stuff.
90RR the Tercel wheel is smaller which I prefer, but main reason I need the extra room, to get in, at 6'6" and 280 lb I aint tiny.
Andrew the cup holders are sweet will hold a big Slurpee!!!
Ric donno but give me while and I'll see if I cant meausure it.

Uh oh, I think I just found a problem with your seats, for me anyway.
I gotta have the flop forward ability to load stuff in the extended cab.
That is always the problem with 4 door car seats. I dont want to have to turn the truck on and wait, brrrrmnnnn, brreeeee, while the seat is moving out of the way. Otherwise, we need a write up on what year that console came from, how you bolted it down, etc. DOes the arm rest tilt back, etc etc?
I just bought a toyota console, I am wishing I had seen this post before I had, but I bet the exploder consoles are cheaper and much more plentiful than the yota's.

Wow lets see. The e-brake aint a prob its on the dash, but the L posistion on the shifter only has about an 1/8" of room, but it doesnt hit. And could be posistioned a little further back if you like. Be sure you have the cup holder in before you start markin cause it adds about an inch to overall length, dont ask me how I know. As to the year? Dunno I would say all the first gen Explorer's have the same console, but the big style cup holder was from a later year model of the 1st gen group. All of the cup holders are a screw in afair so you can pick which style you like . The earlier ones only had a single holder and a little roll top desk lookin thingy. Which is what I found first. Then I saw the double style. Was gonna bolt it in but the floor is 2 layers thick in the tunnel, has like a welded in heat shield or strengthener layer, so I just used self drill, self tap screws. The giz uses 2 mounts. Front one under where the cup holder is being plastic and designed for a step in the tunnel which I kinda ignored just screwed it crooked and let the mount screws pull it together. Kinda stresses the console plastic but it should hold. The front mount will bolt on, but the holes will be right above the transfer case. And I couldnt get my hand in there to start a nut. The metal there is only 1 layer use a 12 x 3/4 screw and be carefull not to run it in too fast or you'll strip the hole. The rear mount is this goofy lookin cast aluminum piece which also mounts the armrest. I used 12 x 2" screws there. Once you pierce the floor keep goin till it pushes through the second layer.
Yes the armrest tilts up. And yeah there is no access to the back of the truck. I never get to find any nice 2 door seats at the upullit. I,m to big to get back there anyhow. Don't know how the daughter's gonna get back there now, she used to crawl between the seats. I did wire em hot with a 20 amp fuse inline so the truck doesnt have to be on. The main reason I went with the electric seats was so I could get the cushion lower, more head room was needed.
Bolt in? Yes and no, I wanted to use the origional holes in front so I cut up the bench frame and the bucket frame and frankenstiened the mounts with a welder so that the front bolts actually did line up and had to drill one new hole on each side in the back. The seat belt latch is integral with the seat so I wanted to be sure they were mounted really secure in case of a crash.
Thanks again for the comments.
