Hey Dwayne. Sorry for the absence. I've been without electricity, phone, and running water for nearly a week now. Ice storm hit Ark. and was declared a disaster area. So, I'm work and can only be on for the day. I've no idea when I'll have capabilities at home, again. Power should be back in the next day or two. But, the phone line may be another week or two.
The shifter in my '92 auto flops all over the place. Always has. So, as far as I could tell, that's normal due to the type of linkage set up. What shouldn't happen is being able to, of course, move it through the positions without pressing the lock button. Hopefully you don't have that? On the other hand, the t-case shifter shouldn't flop around at all. That one should be firm.

Thanks for the sentiments, Dwayne. It literally looks like a tornado came through the entire area. But, I, my wife, and all the animals are actually dealing with it rather well. Can't say the same for many other folk, but we've been through it enough. Power goes down atleast once, sometimes twice, every winter. I heat my home with wood and have a woodfired cookstove, so I can keep us warm and still eat....all that jazz. No electricity means we can't pump water from the well, but I have two 275gal storage tanks that were full before the power went down. So, I can hand draw off the tanks for probably another several days before I'd have to start hauling from the nearby spring. The only real drag is the huge chore of heating water on a stove to wash dishes, houseclean, and bath. And, of course, no laundry is getting done. What a pile that is growing in to. Engh. Anyway, we have headlamps and make the best of it. We have it far better than people who depend on electricity for everything. We can atleast keep food fairly refrigerated in my well house where it's always cool. Ha! And, last night I cooked out on the campfire and slept over night by it. Hell...I love that shiznit, anyway!!! It's so relaxing I feel I could melt into the Earth.
I'll see about reading that pm and pondering it. Can't say when I'll be getting back to you. I hope you actually have it figured out by then!!

didn't get alignment
Matthew I didn't get a alignment done after I purchased new tires....my mistake ....guys at the tire shop said things look good?
I replaced the idler arm and inner/outer tie rod end on passenger side today (had to thake a vacation day to do this)..with OEM parts.
I also found out after removing these parts today that every thing else that was attached to the..... drivers side suspension(except ball joints I checked them and they feel ok) was bad also which includes the...inner/outer tie rod ends and the pit man arm All BAD! they just flop around and the studs just move freely without any effort...
so maybe after replacing these parts and get a alignment done... my vibration will go away.....and if so....then I will be happy to get a much needed break from working on this 4runner

Hmmm.........some reason I thought you had. Well, anyway, if you had, I was going to say they should've certainly noticed that.
Good luck, Dwayne. I hope for your mental health's sake that's all it is.

Dale..I have a few questions if you have time to give me your input?....if my flex plate is bad?....
in your opinion will the problem be more noticeable when the O.D. is off?...if so I really have a bad vibration when my O.D. is off and not so bad with the O.D. is on..

Matthew...I still think I will have the vibration with the engine, t.c. or something in that area......but I do feel the new suspension parts will help with my shaking of the front end...
Matthew I will keep you posted on this issue....and this weekend my co worker has invited me over to his garage on Sunday. The garage will allow us to get all four wheels off the floor and on stands safely. Then we can put the 4runner through the test of putting in drive and 4H and look for and listen for any unusual loose parts, vibrations and maybe locate the area that this problem is in

I can't see it being anything other than the t.c. from your description, good luck and if you do the stand test - be careful, move slowly and deliberatly and keep your legs away from the tires!!
