actually my frame is in really good shape for around here. most of them rot completely in half and the cab rests on the bed. i have discovered something else that i need to fix quickly as soon as i find a part for it. if you look in the picture above with the gas tank you will see three lines coming out of the tank, the one in the middle looks greasy but it is rusted through and leaking. can anyone tell me the name of that part and where i might find one? thanks in advance

Oh, thanks for the how-to on the different tools, materials and techniques, it's very helpful for us. And don't be afraid to snap pics of the boring stuff, that's often where you detail a technique the uninitiated DIY'er would miss!

i wished i knew how to weld as well. my sister's boyfriend is a professional fabricator, he builds drag cars and i swapped him out some work. i will get a close up pic of the cross member this weekend. he cut it back almost to the frame and welded in a samller diameter tube. thanks for the info on the fuel pump bracket, i will stop by the dealer tomorrow and pick one up. i wanted to get as many pics as possible but a lot of the stuff is a process that doesn't work well in pictures. if anyone has any questions about anything i will gladly explain as best i can, don't hesitate to ask.

I would have just gone ahead and either flat blacked those side view mirrors or get another new set from somewhere, unless they are just dirty.

i think it took a total of about 2 quarts to edge and paint everything. the mirrors are dirty but i will pull them back off and paint them sometime soon. i still need to paint the wiper arms and the front bumper. actually the entire truck is filthy in the pictures but it is hard to tell, it is covered in dust. i would like a regular bed but they are impossible to find around here. fiberglass is too expensive, worth more than the truck.
