another 22re swap question

i currently blew the head gasket on my '86 22r, 5 speed. i have an extra 22re that came out of a 1992 automatic 2wd toyota truck.
i want to know if i can swap this motor into my 86. i have a 5 speed computer for the motor and i know ill have to put a flywheel on the 22re to bolt up to my 22r 5speed trans.
does anyone know if i am able to wire this up without modifications? ive heard that the 89 and up trucks have different harness' than the first gen trucks. any help is appreciated. thanks

Well, you'll need to know what ECU you have and if it will operate all of the emissions equipment. If the ECU's from an early model than '92, it may not have the terminals for some of the vacuum switching valves. And, it may have a few terminals that you don't need. In other words, as you heard, the harness may not match up and you'll either have to modify or find an ECU for the '92. Then again, it may just plug right up if it's close to the same year.....which would be hopeful.

See if you find out anything from a dealership with the part number on the ECU. Or, just look at the harness and ECU terminals and see if they do match. Maybe even take some pics for all of us to see, if you can.
