AFM to MAF

My 4 cylinder 88 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe & 86 Mustang SVO both had VAFM's on them. They had no problem producing 300 HP with some engine work & a few mods. Maybe having a turbocharged engine is better with a VAFM? Maybe those cars would have performed even better with a MAF? Not for sure. Just thought I would toss in the fact that some engines can produce plenty of power with a VAFM.

There isn't a kit that I know of. The one I made was just a proof of concept prototype. Kitting it was deemed too expensive to do in small quantities.

Did you ever post this to guage interest- or is this site not techy enough. How about advertising for interest on the Supra, Cresida, pirate, etc sites as well? I think your min order was 100? I bet you could market this to LCE and perhaps engblder as well.
I am serious about wanting this. Just a note- this was for 22re apps right?

I'd have to make around 100 units to make it worth while. The cost would still be around $140 for each converter. You would still need to buy the MAF sensor from a wrecking yard and a cone filter to fit it. The entire conversion would likely cost close to $250 in all. I don't know that it's really worth it for the money.

Well the issue here is that either your customer goes with the Supra afm or your maf...subtract the cost of the (and the bs of getting one) Supra afm $100 right there, if it works it's a 1982 part after all. Those GM maf's are a dime a dozen and I can do better on price. So is the mod worth $150 difference. I think yes, options are limited for getting power in this app and freeing up space. LCE charges $300 for a bored out TB- how does the performance of that mod compare with this? Most everything I see for these apps are little bandaids- this I see as a step forward. Another thing to consider- you see $250 as too much, let the market tell you- but not on this forum
