A340H teansfer case, center support removal

Ok, my a340h tranny was slipping and would then grab, so I took it appart and found someone had rebuilt it before. what I found was the low speed clutch pack had only six steels and five friction disks. The end steel and the end flange were metal to metal. No parts were damage, but if someone put a kit in it then what happened to friction plate #6? What I need to do is check the forward clutch pack to see if there is an extra friction disk in there, but I can't get the center support out without damaging it. My question is; does anyone know how to get the center support out without disassembling the whole tranny. This has to be the worst disigned transfer case I have ever seen. Coulden't they have just put the case bolts on the outside so the case could be removed and put on a bench?
Just gotta say, what were they thinkin? kind of like the cross over pipe!

the a340 H is a tough transmission, however it is the most complicated to work on.

I would suggest that you do a search and you should find what you're looking for.

I had a 1995 4 runner 3. 0 with the a340 H transmission. I did do some work on the transmission, however I hated every minute of it...

I discovered how to get the support out. The support has a locking bolt. it it the top center bolt in the transfer case valve body. Once you take it out the support comes right out.
It turns out all the clutches are in the other packs, they are all new and who ever rebuilt it must have thrown the missing friction disk in the left over parts bin. Must have been a professional builder. lol
