86 4 Runner ingaging issues with T/C
[B]So here is the deal, I have a 86 4 runner with auto locking hubs or so I am told. The 4 wheel drive was working great for the last 3 months. We had a big snow fall here in seattle over this last week and it was working great in 4 low and 4 high, plus 2 high. Now we went out and played in the snow and never got the truck over 10 miles a hour in 4 low, and then we never got the truck over 30 in 4 high. I parked the truck at the end of the night and came back out the next day to drive it in 2 high and it worked fine until I shift into 4 high and 4 low and had no front traction. The drive line is fine, no oil leeks.
I drover the truck around thinking that I could thaw out a frozen part if that was the case and still no luck.
So my question is, do the 86 4 runners have a actual automatic locking hub set up and have they been know to freeze up in cold temperatures?
I know about the pre 86 solid axle units but not about the 86 and newer set ups. Is there a way to hit the unit with a propain torch and thaw the unit , or do I have to just wait til the thaw of nature comes?
