3vze top-end rebuild?
so i recently did a top-end rebuld on my 95 4runner (pics on the way), i threw in crower cams and thorley headers while i was in there. i've been driving it around town for a few days now and the damn thing is still pretty gutless.
i know i probably lost some low end torque with the headers but i atleast expected some more power in the higher rpm's. what i am wondering is if this result is typical or has some one out there done the same mods and got more power out of a 3vze? if this is just how it goes then i'm gonna throw a left-over NOS kit from my honda on it and see where that goes.

i have the timing out at 20 advanced, i had it at 10, then played with it and found 20 to be good. i have done an isr mod with cone filter, no fuel upgrades. i should have done the 3.4 swap but i didn't feel like pulling the block out of the truck.

so it didnt make much of a difference? how is the bottom end? check the cyl compression. i hope you figure it out...ive been wanting to put my spare v6 into my 2wd for street/drag racing with some nitrous. but well see how that goes. oh, i didnt mean street racing.

bottom end is the same. i need to go get a compression tool so i can check that too. over all the motor runs good and pulls better when it gets up above +3000 rpm, i lost some low end torque with the headers and cams, the guy who machined my heads told me i should try advancing the valve timing a little and see if that works but doing that is a PITA after i just finished the motor. as soon as i get the nitrous all sorted out and i can run it i'll let you know if it's worth it or not.
