22RE Can't keep tension on alternator belt?
Anyone else have this problem? It seems like it starts loosening up immediately, as soon as the motor starts running. We're cranking everything down well, and the alternator and water pump seem to spin okay. Could it just be the wrong bolt in the alternator? Are we supposed to have a split washer between the bolt head and bracket?
I'm sure we're missing something simple here.

as long as the alternator is bolted down tight to the adjustment bracket you should be good regardless of hardware(unless nuts/bolts are loosening up or something while running). however i just found my alt. bracket cracked along the top of the adjustment section. check it for cracks as i'm sure once the motor is running, it could flex and appear like a loose belt..........if that ain't it, then i don't know, pretty basic system. oh, and if it is cracked, you should be able to weld it up easily enough.
